So much to do so little time!

So this week concluded my first week at my internship with 8twenty8 Studios. Other than the hassle of parking and forgetting to get my car validated for 3 hours free parking and end up up paying $10.00, I'd have to say I def enjoy the downtown vibe, the people I work with, and the environment I work in. I learned about the workflow of their clients from the beginning, the workflow of editing photos and how they are organized, creating picture cards, and making slideshows.

Tomorrow I actually have a day free of work, internship, sessions, etc, and probably plan to sit on the couch all day or go to the beach. A much deserved break especially before a busy weekend with my first wedding on Saturday, work on Sunday and straight to a maternity session right after.

I miss having my hubby around. Though it's nice we still get to chat and skype every day. Tonight he skyped me as he was on his way to the store to get clear nail polish. Nail polish?? Apparently he has chiggers (sp?) and the best way to get rid of them is to smother/suffocate them with nail polish. Weird.

Check out my latest session I did on Monday with the Geier's who celebrated their 1 year wedding anniversary on Coronado Island (also their wedding location just 1 yr prior). They were a fun couple to shoot, as Mike had some crazy ideas he wanted to do (such as spin De Anna in circles and jump off rocks) lol

The next day I sent them a contact sheet for them to pick out 30-35 photos to choose for me to edit. This was their response (I love getting emails like this):

Wow you did such an amazing job!  You definitely have an eye for
photography.

Here are our favorites:

184, 189, 192, 196, 211

We went way over...Mike says we should narrow it down. I was wondering if
you could send me a proof sheet of these? And if I decide to keep all of
them, could you give me a quote for the extra 11?

Thanks sooooo much for a beautiful session!

p.s. what are your rates for weddings + traveling to San Gabriel?  My sister
is getting married Oct. 20th and I'd love to recommend you.

Thanks again! =)

Scouting out my first wedding venue!

Im so excited that my first wedding that I will be photographing is a country inspired wedding. Today I drove 45min to check out the venue that Chantel and Rhett will be getting married at on September 15th. Im dying to give everyone a preview of what it looks like! But...I will contain myself and just show you two pictures to give everyone a hint of what/who I will be working with.

The Hubby is gone :(

So this weekend was so much fun! My brother and is wife came down for their 1 year anniversary and we all got together, hung out at the beach, had a few drinks, and saw the Expendables at the Aloha Music Festival. Here is a taste from the festival. On the downside, my husband, Lance, left for 3 months for combat training before he begins his 1 year deployment :( I already miss him like crazy :( Looks like I'm going to be filling the void and keeping myself busy with tons of photo sessions. Tomorrow I have my second interview for 8twenty8 Studios. This interview is more of a formality because Tim, the owner, was not there during my first interview and every time I stopped in their gorgeous downtown brick building studio, he was always busy with clients. I am sooo exciting to be starting this internship in which I will be assisting and possibly shooting weddings!! Check out 8twenty8 Studios here.

Am I crazy?

Sometimes I wonder if I am crazy. I have booked 3 weddings so far, 4 including my dad's between now and December. 4 WEDDINGS! am I crazy?! Not mention I have Bride's that want to book my next year as well. I haven't even experienced photographing one wedding yet and I am already taking on 4! What if I completely screw up on the first one? What if I hate it? What if the bride's don't like their photos? What if they come out blurry or not exposed properly? I mean, heck, Im having complete strangers trust in me and my abilities as a student and amateur photographer to record one of the most important days in their lives. No big deal.  In order to prepare I'm reading books, blogs, articles, practicing, taking classes, watching videos, buying extra batteries and memory cards, and I still feel like I am gonna get on site and just forget everything I have ever learned because I will be so nervous. I just hope I can make everyone proud including myself.

My first post!

So here I am entering in the 21st century and finally creating a blog! Who would have thought that??

Today I delivered photos to the "future" Brown family (getting married next month in which I will be taking photos for) and it made me soooo happy hearing that she (Jessica) had a BLAST at her family/engagement photo session. She told me she had never experienced something like that and told me she planned on using me for all other future photography needs, including her son's 5 year old photos come November. I then gave her a BIG hug! Hearing that made my day. She was so giddy with excitement to see her photos and for her big day next month and thrilled that I was her photographer. Yep, this is what I was meant to do :)
Here are 2 photos from that session
